Mr. Billy Ray Brantley, age 66, of Pelham passed away Monday, April 9, 2012. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many. An avid hunter and sportsman, he was larger than life. He was a lifelong Shelby County residence and a third generation homebuilder.
He was preceded in death by his parents, JW and Helen Brantley, and a brother, Jimbo. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Brantley; seven children; Susie Vogel (Bill), Amy Stidham (Mike), Wade Brantley (Angela), Michelle Gill, Mike Burroughs (Joni), Brandon Brantley and Kaitlyn Brantley; two brothers, Richard Brantley (Millie) and Tim Brantley; a sister, Candi Harrington (Ted); and 12 grandchildren, Maddie, Dalton, Bradley, Will, Meghan, Tyler, Andrew, Aidan, Dalson, Preston, Austin and Keaton.
The family will receive friends Thursday, April 12, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, April 13, 2012, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with interment following in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Central Alabama Alzheimer’s Association.
